Around the year 1300, Modum's New Church was erected on the Buskerud farm, who was bishop at the time. This was a small stave church. In the 1600s it was replaced by a wooden church. The current New Church was built in 1847 out of timber in the Gothic Revival style by architect Grosch.
From Åmot center, follow signs to Blaafarveværket and Sigdal (Lilleåsgata) down to the bridge over the river and continue about 500 m. Turn left over bridge (Refsalveien) and follow Refsalveien approximately 2.3 km. The church will be on your right.
