Heggen Church is a cruciform church from the first part of the 1200s during the Middle Ages. The original church was built in Romanesque style, and was extended into a cruciform church in 1697-1725. It received a new chancel in 1832 and was extended to the west in 1878. The altarpiece and the pulpit are from around 1700. The painted pictures of the altarpiece are from the 1840s. This church is also home to the oldest Norwegian copy of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper."

Heggen Church is located at Hegge Road between Vikersund and Åmot on the east side of the river. The Vikersund Ski Jumping Center which has held world championship competitions is nearby. The church is located approximately 4 km from Vikersund and 7.5 km from Åmot.
